Anyone used a Kitchenaid pasta roller for conditioning polymer clay?
I was wondering if it held up well against the stiff clay and if the clay stuck to or got discolored by the rollers?
Answer:
I'm not sure if I've known anyone personally, but they can be used with polymer clay. The Kitchen Aid appliance has a strong motor (and it also makes the rollers powered by electricity), which is good, but not sure what materials and perhaps coatings KA may be putting on their rollers (in the pasta roller accessory) these days.
(You wouldn't want to use the pasta roller for dough after that though because some of the plasticizer from the raw clay could get into the nooks, etc, and get into food later. But if that's okay, this would be an excellent option, though "large.")
All kinds of pasta machines we polymer clayers used to use have changed in the past few years and most aren't as good as the older ones in some ways (so if you have an older roller set, rejoice!). Some "problems" have always been present for virtually all of the pasta machines/rollers though, but some have workarounds.

As for "stiff" clay, no pasta machines should have thick wads of really cold stiff polymer clay put into them without making the pieces flatter first (squishing or whacking, or cutting into slabs just thicker than the opening you want to use). Pasta machines are made for dough so the rollers can get bent out of true otherwise. (After the clay has been conditioned and is relatively soft and/or very warm though, larger wads can be put through.)
